A Show To Help Support the Youth

The 17th Annual Cruise-In For Our Youth is a perfectly named event. The show is held in order to raise money for the West Clermont High School scholarship fund. The Amelia Masonic Lodge played host for this year's show on a warm, sunny, typical summer day that brought out in excess of 80 great vehicles. Among them was a beautiful 1979 Dodge Challenger. Dodge introduced the Challenger in 1970 as their "pony car" entry. Using many of the main components and styling cues from the very first true pony car, the Plymouth Barracuda (yes, the 'Cuda beat the Mustang to market), the Dodge was slightly bigger with a longer wheelbase and more interior room. Parent company Chrysler wanted it to be the most powerful car in that segment and offered engines ranging from 198 cubic inch slant six all the way up to a 440 cube V8. Also at the show was a 1966 Ford Mustang, a Chevy Camaro Z-28, a 1963 Thunderbird, a 1967 Nova Super Sport, a 1972 Monte Carlo, a 1935 Chevy Standard, and a Chevy C10 pick up truck.
