Some Shine and Some Patina At the Cruise-In For Our Youth

There are always very shiny cars at pretty much every old car event but more and more you are seeing some vehicles that have not been restored and are proudly wearing their patina. A few of those were on hand at the 17th Annual Cruise-In For Our Youth event which raised money to support the West Clermont High School scholarship fund. Held on the ground of the Amelia Masonic Lodge, the show saw plenty of shine. For example, there was a beautiful Shelby GT-500 on display. Carroll Shelby first introduced his version of Ford's Mustang in 1965 dubbing it the GT-350. In 1967, after a few tweaks, he introduced the GT-500 which used Ford's Cobra Series FE 427 cubic inch V8 engine. 1970 saw the last of Shelby's official Mustang make-overs. There were other great rides on the lawn for this event including a pair of "stock" 1969 Mustangs, one a Mach 1 and one a 302. Also at the show was a fantastic unrestored 1935 Plymouth (yes, the suicide doors were standard equipment at the time), a well worn 1957 Chevy Bel Air station wagon, a Lincoln Continental low rider, and a Pontiac Grand Prix.
