The '55

            1955, the middle of the 20^th century, was a year that saw some great changes in America. For car enthusiast it marked the begging of new era in auto manufacturing. That was the year that Chevy turned their whole philosophy upside down and began making a line of cars that would energize the nation. Perhaps the best known was the ’55 Bel Air. This is the car that introduced the small block overhead-valve V8 that would become legendary throughout the world.

            Chris Bork owns one of those iconic ‘55s. With the perfect two tone red and white exterior that matches the Chevy logo on the front and gleaming white wall tires, this is a car that’s begging to be driven to an old diner and have a car hop on roller skates bring up your food.

            While the next two model years would begin to spout fins along the rear end, the ’55 had none. But that doesn’t diminish how clean those lines are. Sporting that unforgettable hood ornament that made you want this car to fly, the ’55 Bel Air not only looked radical at the time, it also looked fast.

            We saw Chris’ car at the Sharonville Chamber of Commerce car show but look for it at shows around the tri-state this summer. This is a classic piece of art.
