The muscle car era was perhaps the height of American performance cars. Started by John DeLorean when he was at Pontiac by putting a large capacity engine in a mid-sized Tempest kicked off a competition between the manufacturers to see who could pump up the most horse power. The inaugural DeVou Park Concours D'Elegance had a nice selection of cars in their American Performance class. Among them was a 1969 Plymouth HEMI Roadrunner, a 1993 Chevy Camaro, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport, a 1969 Oldsmobile 442, and a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass SS W-31.
