The First DeVou Concours

Creating and running any car show is quite a task. There are a lot of details that most people don't consider. So imagine deciding to start a brand new concours event and all that would go into it. That's the task that the team behind the inaugural DeVou Concours were up against prior to the event happening last month. Helping to potentially complicate things was the fact that this show is one of five within a two hour drive of each other, including the oldest and longest running concours not held on the West Coast.

Deemed "The Concours With A View," the event was held in beautiful DeVou Park in Covington, KY which overlooks the Ohio River and downtown Cincinnati. Raising funds for the Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center, an organization that focuses on the safety and security of children no matter their background.

The concours team assembled a number of things to enhance the event including brining in Tommy Kessler, the guitarist from the band Blondie, scheduling a fly over of World War II aircraft by the Tri-State Warbirds Museum, along with food trucks and a large collection of vehicles, including the Ford GT seen above. There was also a vintage retired Dodge police car and the Porsche once owned by baseball's Pete Rose. Still, more people flocked to check out one of the six current Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobiles.

With features of Porsche and Corvette along with 12 other classes, a tribute to a featured collector, and a group of collectable cars parked in the car corral, posts from this event will run for more than two weeks. Hope you enjoy it.
