Following World War II industry in Japan was in a shambles. Like in other parts of the world their automobile industry switched from manufacturing cars to making vehicles for the military. Following the war that industry was slow to recover, generally building mostly trucks for the domestic market. Cars followed more than a decade later but it wasn't until the 1970s that Japan began exporting vehicles and most of that, initially, to the United Kingdom and other countries in Europe as well as the United States. Some of those early models and more current cars were on display at the first DeVou Park Concours d'Elegance. Among them was a very rare 1991 Nissan Figaro. This was a car that was made for only one year and was sold in Japan through a lottery system. Others on display included a 2006 Honda S2000, a 1994 Mazda RX-7, a 1969 Datsun 2000 Roadster, and a 1969 Honda S600.
