Beetles Headed For the Hill

Following World War II the British took over the portion of Germany where the pre-War "people's car" was made. Major Ivan Hirst saw the potential of reopening the plant and putting people to work making the little cars officially known as the Type 1 but affectionately known as the Beetle. The car was a huge success, becoming the widest selling vehicle in the world. Perhaps that's one reason why there was a large number on hand at this year's Headin' For the Hill show in North College Hill. Here they are.
